Port Townsend

Yes… Again… I told you before it is one of my favorite towns in Washington State. Only this time I did not ride there on my motorcycle, I drove there in my new to me Jeep to do some shopping at the local shops.

I headed out towards Port Townsend around 9:30am, it would be about a two hour drive drive from my new apartment I just moved into (more about that over in my Life blog soon). Normally I would head north via the Hood Canal, but my new place is closer to the route through Gig Harbor. I never go this way on my motorcycle because I hate riding on the highways, but in the Jeep it would be fine.

I arrived in PT around 11:15am after a quick detour in Bremerton to see one of the Zumwalt Class Battleships docked there. You can see them from the road very easily. Not a great photo, but I figured better not linger around for too long and be suspicious.

I had been set on my usual Fish and Chips at Sirens Pub, my favorite Fish and Chips so far in the PNW. Unfortunately they would not be open until noon and I was getting hangry, I figured why not try someplace new? I decided on brunch at Lacocina and boy oh boy was I glad I did!!!

I tried the Chilaquiles: A bed of house made corn tortilla chips sauteed in a mild Adobo sauce, topped with whole pinto beans, Monterey Jack cheese, sour cream, pickled red onions, salas roja, sliced avocado, and then two sunny side up eggs. All I can say is “Wow that was great”.

Along with the view from the outside dinning area, the sun being out, and it being 67 degrees it was a perfect PNW fall morning for me!

After brunch I started wandering along the main street and popping into every little store along the way. I was in search of of some decor and such for my apartment… Somehow I spent way more than I planed on some clothes. I rarely buy myself new clothes and usually from the big box stores. But, I am tired of giving them money, I’d rather support local businesses. I got this Kavu brand shirt, they are based out of Seattle. I do not own anything else by them, but I should.

Another random purchase was this book about birds, I am sure the people in the store thought I was off my rocker at how loud I laughed when I flipped it open and saw what it was really about.

One little shop that I really loved was filled with old type writers, so many type writers!

I also found this old cinema projector at a thrift/antique shop.

Anyways, I just spent the afternoon wandering in and out of shops and admiring some of the local art as well.

Eventually I headed home around 3:30pm. Something told me to go my usual route down the Hood Sport canal and even though I was not on the motorcycle and it would add about 30 minutes to the drive I chose to go this way because, why not? Well it was worth it for the color of the changing fall leaves along the water front.

And then I got a very cool surprise, a small heard of Elk resting along the road. In my almost 5 years up here I have never seen Elk (or Sasqautch, but I hear he has seen me), in fact I Have never seen an Elk at any point in my life until now and yet I have sat on the back of a Camal in Türkiye, life is strange.

Well that was my Sunday, I hope you found it entertaining and maybe it inspires you to get out there on the road.
