Movie Night

I love movies and this past week I saw two that were very different from each other; The End of Oak Street and The Odyssey. One thing I have been trying to do is to NOT watch full trailers for films because they give away too many details in them anymore.

The End of Oak Street - I was really surprised and impressed with this movie. It did not pull any punches, was well filmed and had very good CGI of the dinosaurs. Ewen McGregor and Anne Hathaway were really great together on screen. I high recommend, but do not take young kids to this movie.

The Odyssey - This movie fell flat for me, mainly due to the pace it moved at and some strange choices made. It felt too long and this was due to primarily the some fractured story telling of the time line and some strange choices to give some moments too long on scene and others too short.

The casting was okay, Matt Daimon and Anne Hathaway where great, Robert Paterson did well, but the rest were somewhat lacking in their roles. Some just did not fit the roles and others were just flat.

The sound design was fantastic and the cinematography was great. Worth seeing in Imax, but go in with low overall expectations to enjoy it.
